What are the eight leadership characteristics of a Factor8™ Leader?
The eight characteristics of a Factor8™ Leader are: Authenticity, Values Driven Leadership, Legacy, Self-Mastery, Presence Passion & Power, Multiple Perspectives, Cultural Competence and TransformActional.

How is the Factor8™Different Leaders Assessment Tool (F8 DLAT) different from other Leadership assessment tools?
The F8 DLAT is the first assessment tool to focus on those attributes, behaviours and competencies that relate to a leader's’ ability to draw on their difference as a strength.

How has the F8 DLAT being developed?
The F8 DLAT has been developed from research into the strategies and attributes used by individuals to succeed in environments where their difference has made them experience operating as minorities in a majority work environment. Their minority status has been driven by their difference in terms of gender, ethnicity or any of the other diversity dimensions.

What does the F8 DLAT consist of?
The F8 DLAT Assessment Tool consists of 64 questions that relate to the eight Factors that make up the Factor8™ Leaders framework.

How can F8 DLAT be used in the workplace?
The tool can be used in a number of ways including: performance management and in the design of development programmes to ensure such qualities are recognised and rewarded.

How often should I assess myself?
Every 6 months to a year. You will want to track your progress to see if the consistency of results increases and to verify that the visibility of your strengths and positive attributes are increasing as you become more and more of a Factor8™ Leader.

Using the tool

How much does it cost to take the assessment?
Individuals: The SELF assessment is priced at £75.00 + VAT. If you would prefer to take a 360 assessment, contact the Diversity Practice to discuss your requirements

Companies: If you would like to use the F8 DLAT tool in your company, the cost will cover your specific requirements, as well as training and support. Contact the Diversity Practice to discuss your requirements.

How long does it take?
The questionnaire takes between 15 and 25 minutes to complete

What does the report cover?
The F8 DLAT report provides a compelling 40 page evaluation including:
• an overall assessment - if you are a F8, F5, F3 or F1 Leader
• rich description of each of the 8 Factors
• a full interpretation of your score against each Factor
• how your score compares against your observers
• calls to action for each Factor

What if I do not understand the report?
The report is written in very clear language. However if you require coaching on how to take some of the recommendations forward, The Diversity Practice can offer personalised leadership coaching.

What should I do afterwards?
F8 DLAT Self Assessment is a self discovery tool that enables you to assess yourself on the frequency to which you display attributes, behaviours and competencies associated with the eight Factors that make up the Factor8™ Different Leaders Assessment Tool. As a result you will be able to reflect on and take stock of the extent to which you use aspects of your difference as a leadership strength. You can then use this to decide where to focus your development efforts.

When should I take another test?
You should ideally take another test within six months to a year of your first test. This will help you track your progress to see if the consistency of results increases and to verify that the visibility of your strengths and positive attributes are increasing as you become more and more of a Factor8™ Leader.

360 assessment

How does the F8 DLAT- 360 work?
The 360 assessment can only be administered by an approved F8 DLAT coach. The coach will  managed the entire process and will debrief your results.

Why should I have Observers?
Observers have had the opportunity to observe you in action and can provide objective feedback on your behaviours. This will give you a true 360-degree view of how you are perceived.

Who should I select as Observers?
You should select people who know you fairly well such as:
Colleagues, line managers, employees, clients
People outside the organisation include those who are in a position to observe you in a work capacity – this may include volunteer work with a charity or at your place of worship, as a school governor or leader of the Boy’s Brigade, active member of a professional organisation or society etc.

How many Observers can I have?
You must have a minimum of four Observers and you can have up to ten Observers.

How will I know when an Observer responds to my request?
Log into your 360 assessment panel using the access details you received from your F8 DLAT administrator. You will be able to see how many Observers have submitted their feedback. You can also send a reminder email to those that have not responded to your request.

What kind of feedback does the 360 assessment provide?
The 360 assessment enables those people you select (Observers) to provide feedback on the frequency to which you display attributes, behaviours and competencies associated with the eight Factors that make up the Factor8™Different Leaders Assessment Tool. As a result you will be able to compare your perception with the experience others have of your leadership. This provides a more complete picture of where you are in terms of your Factor8™ Leadership journey and indicates where to focus your development efforts.

How is the anonymity of the Observer feedback maintained?
Whilst the Factor8™ Leader will have identified who they wish to invite feedback from, the data is collected via a third party, summarised and collated into a report. The Factor8™ Leader and the F8 DLAT Administrator will be able to track progress in terms of completed assessments. They do not get to see individual Observer feedback returns.
